Responsibilities associated with this position are typically performed in an industrial-manufacturing setting requiring appropriate personal protective wear and consistent observance of established safety policies at all times. Heroux-Devtek at Beaver Aerospace & Defense maintains compliance with FAA and DOT regulations by ensuring a drug-free workplace.

Summary of position:

This position will work to create and enforce a culture of proactive environmental, health and safety compliance within the organization, and jointly implement programs, policies and assessments to ensure Beaver (and all of its employees) are in compliance with all applicable EH&S laws, regulations and industry standards, as well as to internal environmental, health and safety corporate requirements. They may also review reports and findings to monitor performance and detect trends and suggest and implement opportunities.

The candidate should be familiar with the following regulatory programs such as PPE, electrical safety, lockout/tag out, blood borne pathogen, machine guarding, forklift, hazard communication, air permitting, hazardous waste management, stormwater management and other programs as the need arises.

Main responsibilities:

• Assist with review of accidents and incidents which occur along with assisting with identifying, reporting, and tracking to effective closure all corrective and preventive actions.
• Identify root causes and corrective actions (RCCA) of all significant EH&S incidents or near-misses and propose appropriate action plans.
• Contribute to the development and implement the EHS Training Plans.
• Develop and present EH&S training for general awareness and for targeted needs as required.
• In collaboration with Operations leadership, actively participate in monthly EH&S facility wide inspections to identify facility deficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
• Ensure collaboration during inspections by regulatory agencies and coordinate appropriate corrective action response as regards any deficiencies noted.
• Maintain robust documentation associated with all EH&S files, including all regulatory requirements, worker training and safety.
• Maintain and update as needed Standard Operating Procedures for all safe work practices and equipment usage and utilize them in the day-to-day training and awareness intiatives.
• Ensure a proper legal watch to monitor applicability of EH&S laws and regulations with a specific focus on proposed or newly enacted articles.
• Participate in required professional development and training.
• Lead by example, practice safe working techniques and re-enforce safety policies, guidelines, and procedures as set out by the Company.
• Provide advice, assistance, and leadership to ensure that EH&S programs are effectively implemented.
• Provide daily guidance, coaching and direction in EH&S programs at the employee / supervisor level to ensure a common, effective, and collaborative approach.
• Serve as a member of safety committees/councils.
• Support facility growth while enhancing its EH&S performance by notably ensuring compliance at all times, encouraging a zero-incident mindset, reducing GHG emissions, minimizing waste and increasing recycling rates.
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Qualifications:

• Previous working experience in a manufacturing environment leading EH&S, or acting as an Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator.
• Experience with high voltage energy storage systems extremely helpful.
• Excellent interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills.
• Safety Certification/s (CSP, ASP, SMS, OHST, CHST, STS, STSC, CET) a plus
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize workload.
• Working knowledge and experience with EH&S management systems (Ex: ISO 14001).
• Working knowledge of federal and state regulations including but not limited to IMDS, OSHA, EPA, SWPPP and DOT regulations.
• Hands-on experience with performing audits and writing reports.
• Self-starter with excellent organizational, prioritization and time-management skills
