Division info:

The Landing Gear Market specializes in the design, qualification, manufacture and repair and overhaul of landing gears and flight critical components to a customer base that extends from the OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) to the Operators in both the commercial and military markets.

Summary of position:

The Tooling Process Engineer assists in the optimization and support of surface finishing processes. The Engineer mainly focuses on the development, manufacturing, and implementation of new tooling, maintenance, and optimization of existing tooling. They partner with team members in various continuous improvement activities and ensures high quality production yields for the different plating processes.

Main responsibilities:

• Design and develop plating tooling for the processing of new parts in Solidworks or Catia.
• Procure plating tooling, fixtures, and replacement components from suppliers.
• Test new tooling and improve existing tooling and fixtures.
• Organize and structure tooling inventory for the processing shop.
• Maintain organized breakdown of supplier tooling expense documents (quotes, POs, CAPEX forms, etc.) for cost comparison and analysis.
• Support day-to-day shop floor production activities, including:
• Evaluate tooling related issues with surface finishing processes. Resolve issues to improve processes economically while still maintaining quality.
• Provide technical expertise and support to operators, maintenance, and management.
• Hands on repair and maintenance upkeep of existing tooling and fixtures.

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS
• Accredited University or College degree in engineering or technical field.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, problem solving and analytical skills.
• Previous experience designing tooling and fixturing including GD&T, methods of construction, and material selection.
• Experience with SolidWorks and/or Catia (or equivalent drawing program).
• Effectively collaborate with other engineers and operators.
• Experience with process implementation and continuous improvement.

SKILLS
• Knowledge of chemical, heat treatment, or plating processes (chrome, nickel, cadmium a bonus), specifications and NADCAP requirements.
• Understand and implement client process aerospace specifications such as BAC & MIL STD.
• Strong understanding of engineering principles, equipment, and systems.
• Understand and interpret complex engineering drawings and blueprints.
