Division info:

The Landing Gear Market specializes in the design, qualification, manufacture and repair and overhaul of landing gears and flight critical components to a customer base that extends from the OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) to the Operators in both the commercial and military markets.

Summary of position:

This role is based in Runcorn, in the Northwest of England at the Héroux Devtek UK engineering office. Reporting to the Chief of Design, you will be part of a agile team of engineers and technicians engaged in the design, manufacture and testing of aircraft landing gear systems. You will have influence on all the sites of Héroux-Devtek and may be called to travel occasionally outside the country.

Main responsibilities:

• An ability to critically understand and meet complex customer technical requirements.
• Experience in developing innovative product design solutions to satisfy these requirements.
• A solid understanding of the fundamentals of engineering
• An understanding of engineering budgeting for new product development would be an advantage.

As a member of the Design Engineering Team, we expect you to have experience with and a working knowledge of:

• Modern drawing standards and CAD systems, including GD&T.
• Structural static and fatigue calculations.
• National/international aerospace standards.
• Structured BOM's in the composition of assemblies.
• Hydraulic component/systems design.
• Modern manufacturing/assembly techniques.
• Material/treatment selection combined with knowledge of corrosion effects and its prevention.
• An understanding of aerospace manufacturing special processes techniques, i.e. electro-plating, shot peening, painting, heat treatments, anodising, sealing etc.


• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Knowledge of CATIA V5 and Microsoft Office.
• Membership of an Engineering Society (RAeS, IMechE or similar) will be an advantage
